Surgical Suite and Induction Room

Abbey Equine Clinic’s surgical facilities consist of firstly a large purpose built ‘Linatex’ rubber induction/recovery room. This soft contact surface minimises injury to all our patients, and is where they start the process of receiving general anaesthetic. This is monitored under the watchful eye of one of our highly trained anaesthetists.

Horses undergoing general anaesthesia are brought through to our clinically clean equine theatre using a hoist and placed on specialised theatre bed to achieve the necessary position of the animal prior to surgery. The theatre is fully equipped with state of the art technology such as blood pressure monitor and ECG machines. The theatre team considers of experienced surgeons, anaesthetists and qualified equine veterinary nurses working together to provide a high standard of safety and care to your horse.
